A practical corporate governance structure provides a system of rules, practices and processes that is essential to the success of a company. The South African King IV Code on Corporate Governance is recognised as one of the world’s leading corporate governance codes. King IV sets out principles and recommended practices that an organisation should apply to achieve four outcomes: ethical culture, good performance, effective control, and legitimacy. This webinar will unpack some of the issues that need to be considered by the board of a company.
Experienced Facilitator The facilitator will be Cathie Lewis who has recently established Earth Energy (Pty) Ltd, a consulting firm specialising in environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate change advice and related services, including training.
Cathie has been in the listed corporate space for more than 15 years, of which more than 13 years were as the group company secretary at Grindrod and Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium. She has also practiced as an attorney and conveyancer for own account and lectured in law and communication.
Cathie’s qualifications include an LLM: Law of Contract (University of Pretoria), LLM: Corporate Law, cum laude, (University of Pretoria) and Master in Sustainability Leadership (University of Cambridge) and she is also a fellow at the Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa.
Her qualifications, exposure and experience ensure that she is well suited to provide some insights and guidance into the fascinating world of governance.
